the gospel
What is the GOSPEL ... the GREAT news that we're so excited about?
God created the universe, our world, and us to operate in rhythm with God and people. The Bible puts it this way: worship God and love people. Unfortunately, we have chosen to worship ourselves or created things, use people as a means to an end and ignore God, and the fallout from this is not inconsequential.
The fallout from this fatal decision includes suffering, death, and fractured relationships both with God and man. The Bible says the consequences of this decision are not limited to this world, but we will be held accountable in eternity for how we have lived our lives.
So far, this has been bad news. We can all see from our own personal experience that the world is not operating in the rhythm that it was created to function. More specifically, if we are honest, our consciences scream out loud and clear that something just isn't right with us.
But, God has a plan. A plan for restoration. A plan for hope. A plan for purpose. A plan for rescue.
The Bible tells us that God sent His one and only unique Son, Jesus, to live a perfect life that we had failed to live and then die a death that we deserved, to settle accounts with God for the judgment that was coming our way, so that we could be made right with God.
To embrace this rescue and the restoration, hope, and purpose that comes from Jesus, the Bible teaches that we must put our trust, our faith in the person of Jesus, believing that what He accomplished by dying in our place for our wrong doings, has satisfied the judgment and wrath of God we deserved and now makes us right with God.
The awesome thing is that we don't have to wait until we die to enjoy the benefits. Eternal life begins now. You are now a new creation in Christ. God wants to raise up new passions within you that honor God and give you deep joy and purpose as you begin to live for the fame of His great name instead of your own.
