LOCAL IMPACT TEAMS

Our strategy is to focus on a few missions, build structure around each and remain committed for the long run. Consistency is the name of the game. We have developed a missions guide that is titled: "YOUR MISSION OPPORTUNITY".  It is available in all of the pews in the Sanctuary, as well as at Grace Central.  The guide lists all of the current mission opportunities, the team leader and will classify according to heart, skill and geography. You can decide where your passions lie and what skills you have and plug into a specific ministry or mission.  Below is a brief description of each:

  • Gracing Tables
Gracing Tables began as a baby meals program providing meals to families welcoming new babies into their home. This ministry has since expanded their mission to provide meals to members of Grace in a time of need, such as after surgery, during an illness, after the birth of a baby, or when there is a death in the immediate family.

  • Generous Heart Ministries
The idea of Generous Heart Ministry began in Destin in 2003 by identifying initiatives to help people struggling with poverty. The program expanded into supporting homeless adults and families with job training, housing, food and clothing. In 2006 they expanded their mission to include local education and advocacy for Human Trafficking, a growing problem in Florida. In 2007 orphans and their needs were added to the list of focus areas.
  • Supper On Saturday
To provide food and other necessities along with the love and hope of Jesus to those in need within the local community.
This mission was started by the First United Methodist Church of Niceville and has grown tremendously. We are one of several other churches of various denominations that have come alongside FUMC to participate in this worthwhile effort. The number of meals we provide has risen to over 700 and will likely climb even higher this next year.

  • Hosanna House
Founded in 1998 THE MISSION of Harvest House is to provide food, clothing, and shelter to those who are less fortunate and at a point of need in their life. THE VISION of Harvest House is founded on Isaiah 58:6-9:

1. Provide food from a well stocked pantry to those in the area who are in need.
2. Provide clothing from a well stocked thrift store to the less fortunate.
Support Christian ministries that provide women and children with a place where victorious, independent living is the final objective. Specifically, a place of new beginnings that provides hope and the necessary tools to meet the challenges of a renewed life. (Hosanna House is the principal recipient).

  • Children In Crisis:
”Providing Homes and Establishing Hope” to the abused, neglected and abandoned children of our community. The Children’s Neighborhood* is a Children in Crisis campus currently under development in Ft. Walton Beach. It provides an emergency shelter for infants and young children and helps with the severe shortage of foster homes in our community. Together we can make a difference in the life of a child.
  • Abused Women’s Shelter
Supporting victims of domestic violence by providing shelter,
intervention, and primary prevention programs to the community through education, awareness, and advocacy.

We also are deeply involved in two other local missions:

  • Waterfront Rescue Mission

We bring bread and bakery goods as well as any surplus food from our Wednesday NIght Dinner to the Waterfront MIssion every Wednesday evening.  We not only bring physical food, but spiritual food as well as we share Jesus with the homeless and addicted.

  • Destin Rhab

We visit Destin Rehab on the first Sunday of every month.  We visit with residents, bring small gifts, pray with them and sing hymns.
